County Mayo
Cong
Nestling on the banks of Lough Corrib, Cong is one Ireland's oldest treasures. For years, visitors have come from the entire world to marvel at its wonderful scenery and enjoy the welcome that the people of this unique village extend to all.
Cong and Mayo are a must for any visitor who wishes to see Ireland the way they imagine it to be. Cong, of course, is most famous as the location for the John Wayne classic, The Quiet Man. Guided tours for pre-booked groups around Cong village visit locations from the film such as the dying man's house, Innisfree, Castletown, the river fight scene, 'hats in the air' scene, Rev. Playfair's house, Pat Cohan's Bar, and many more. After the tour, you can explore the Quiet Man Cottage Museum and take in some of the local history. The 35-minute tour contains lots of information and stories from the making of the film and is a real trip into the past.
Lough Corrib
The largest lake in the Republic of Ireland is Lough Corrib. Measuring 68 square miles and home to 365 islands, this lake is one of the cleanest, most unspoilt and scenic in all of Europe. A cruise through this unique waterway with guides providing a commentary of islands—including the tranquil island of Inchagoil with its monastic ruins—lake, and shoreline is a truly memorable excursion.
